Storybook Alphabet

Back in the day – I never seemed to have too many alpha sticker sets.  These days, I find I never seem to have too many alpha stamp sets! The July Stamp of the Month is adding another option to my stash! Storybook Alphabet is great for layout titling or making cards.

Storybook Alpha

These letters are just under 1″ tall and have designs – flowers, hearts, dots, leaves. You can color these with markers, water colors or colored pencils or leave as they are – they look great either way.

This card design came from Make It From Your Heart Volume 1 pattern book (watch for Volume 3 in August!!). This is an quick, easy & cute card anyone can make.

  • Cut four 1 1/4 x 4″ strips and dovetail the bottom of each.
  • Layer each piece with a piece of ribbon (I used Blue Burlap) before attaching to the card base (You can also add a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece to create a background if you’d like)
  • Use four 1 1/8″ squares in White Daisy to stamp the letters H, O, P, E – LOVE works too!
  • Mat the stamped letters with 1 1/4″ squares in the darker color.
  • Attach the squares with a bit of 3D foam tape (this adds dimension and helps prevent unevenness over the burlap).
  • Add an embellishment to the lower portion for balance (I added a little sentiment banner – but you could easily add a bow or other embellishment)

Another option is to create a solid piece for the stamped word – then you could include a longer word like THANKS or LOVE U.

Hope you’re having an amazing week!

Enjoy!

Live, Love Laugh!

I tend to shy away from stamps that I need to color in because that takes extra time.  But recently I’ve been adding these to my collection and just using basic techniques to color.  Some of the techniques I’ve used to keep my coloring quick and easy include:

Watercolor Pencils  – Ink Stamp Pads – Watercolors – Colored Pencils – Water Brushes

This stamp set looks great even without coloring!

For this picture, I used Momento Black Ink and then used water colors and a water brush to color in just some of the flowers & leaves. To keep everything balanced, I focused on one color or type of flower across all the letters.

Flock Together

OK – spill it – how many of you are old enough to remember The Partridge Family?  A bunch of singing kids – brightly painted bus – ring a bell?  Well – I’m old enough – and this Stamp of the Month reminds me of that show – with a little bit of The Turtles thrown in (So Happy Together)!

Flock Together

Don’t worry if you don’t have a house full of singing kids or a bright bus – this stamp set is great for other layouts, too. How cute would pictures of your flock be in this layout?

You’re Tea-rrific!

The March Stamp of the Month is just in time to create some Mother’s Day fun or just to let someone know you care.  The teacup images are great to use with a sentiment inside or color them in with water colors, Shin Han markers, or colored pencils.  With hearts & flowers, this is the perfect girl friends stamp set.

Tea-rrific

Here are some fun ways to use the set:

The card on the left was an easy make – I just used three 1 1/2 inch strips, evenly spaced on a Colonial White card.  The I stamped the tea cup in Cocoa and Poppy on a 3 X 2 3/4 piece of Colonial white and the additional sentiment on a 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 piece.  I distressed the edges by sponging with Poppy ink.  Then backed them with Poppy (3 1/4 x 3 and 1 7/8 x 1 5/8).  Embellish as you prefer.

As the SOTM, this set is only available through March 31, 2017.  You can get this stamp set for the regular price of $17.95 – or spend $50 and get it for just $5.

Here are some things you can purchase to get the stamp set for $5 AND be ready to make some fun cards –

Dreamin’ Big paper packet ($9.95)

Card Value Pack (14.95)

3L E-Z Dots Adhesive tape runner (7.95)

Acrylic block 2 x 3 ½ (8.95)

Ink Stamp Pad (7.95) (Juniper, Poppy, Glacier, Sorbet & Slate go great with these papers)

Dreamin’ Big Sequins (3.95) – add a little bling!

There’s No Bunny Like You…..

This month’s Stamp of the Month is just in time to get ready for Easter – or Spring.  With this cute Bunny Family – you can make a little scene of bunnies in the grass or in a field of flowers.

s1702

This is another stamp that you can color in with colored pencils, alcohol markers, watercolors (pencils or pots) – or just keep the outlined image.

For my card, I used the blush & gold patterned paper for the background, layered with a piece of Juniper cardstock and then the grey patterned paper (looks like columns to me).  I started by distressing the edges of the grey piece with Desert Sand ink.  Then I stamped the grass across the bottom with black ink, followed by the line of flowers on the left side – leaving room for the ‘child-bunny’ on the right.

I originally stamped the bunny in Chocolate (yes – I was thinking about eating a chocolate bunny!) straight on the patterned paper, but then decided it needed a little more dimension – so I restamped it on White Daisy in Desert Sand and fussy cut the image.  I colored in just the ears and the flowers with colored pencils.

I cut the banner using the Artistry Cricut cartridge – stamped in Sorbet.  Last I stamped ‘Happy Easter’ in Juniper.  After layering everything, I added some White Shimmer Trim to the Juniper cardstock.

Here are some other examples of how this stamp set can be used…

Cheers! New Year’s Cheer – SOTM

img_0545-copy

This is a fun and versatile stamp set.  Although it’s themed for the New Year (it includes drink glasses, bubbles, and an invitation stamp) – you can easily use the other elements on additional projects.

Honestly this card looks a little flat in the picture – you can’t really see the edge distressing on the blue and red pieces behind the stamped section.  I also added a couple of bitty sparkles to the starbursts to add some more sparkle.

s1611-new-years-cheer

The flags are fun to use to add a little flair to almost any project.  The sparkles can be stars – snow flakes – twinkling lights  – and that bow – another fun addition.

Yuletide Joy – SOTM

It’s only October, but the stores are starting to fill with Christmas decorations (honestly that drives me nuts!).  But, here I am with a Christmas stamp set.  I had fun pairing this month’s Stamp of the Month with the Swan Lake paper which has more of a fall theme by using some of the patterned rather than themed papers.  I really love this Peacock color!

img_0350

For this card I use some gold embossing powder (I really need to work on my embossing techniques – but that day I was running out of time and had to go with what I had.  Looks like I need to try a dryer sheet to keep away the excess powder.).  I did this as a half fold card – I cut a piece of White Daisy card stock to 4 1/4 X 8 1/4.  Then I scored this at 5 1/2″ so the inside & outside come together.

img_0351

Usually I’ve seen these cards horizontally, but I wanted to put a square peg in a round hole, so I ended up putting it vertically.

One of the things I like about this stamp set is that each of the images has a smaller image within the swirls – holly leaves within the bell, a poinsettia in the star, candy in the stocking and stars in the present. You can also use the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge for two of the images.
