Featured Paper Blog Hop – Chelsea Gardens

Welcome to our Featured Paper Blog Hop! We will be showcasing items from our Chelsea Gardens Paper Pack with various projects created by talented Close to my Heart consultants. If you are visiting from Erika’s blog then you are on the right track, if not please check in to Carol’s blog to start from the beginning! Don’t forget to check out Brittany’s blog next.

Here’s a very easy card to let someone know they’re in your thoughts. It’s actually a take on the middle card below. These three cards are the extra projects from the Scrapbooking Workshops Your Way. I love that you can work on scrapbook pages and get a coupe of cards made in no time!

To be honest, I can’t take a whole lot of credit for the adaptation either! CTMH always hosts amazing events for consultants, and this card was one of the make & take activities for our Seasonal Expressions launch in December. I made just a few additional changes to get to this —->

This card uses a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of the watercolor paper from the Chelsea Gardens paper packet, a 4 1/4″ zip strip and a 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of White Daisy cardstock, dovetailed on the bottom.

I started by stamping the dovetailed cardstock with the butterfly and sentiment from the Chelsea Gardens Cardmaking Stamp Set.  For this card I stamped the butterfly in Black and the ‘thinking of you’ in Glacier. After stamping the butterfly, I colored it in with Watercolor pencils. Rather than using a waterbrush to bring out the watercolors, I used a clear Shimmer Brush – it added the best sparkle! I really think this is my favorite use of the Shimmer Brush yet!

After my butterfly had time to dry, I adhered a piece of the Cream Ribbon to the top of the dovetailed piece. I did this prior to placing the dovetailed piece on the card so I could secure the ends behind/under the cardstock and prevent fraying.

Rather than placing the zip strip all the way to the top, I lowered it about 1/4″. Then I glued the dovetailed piece directly below the zip strip. I topped it off with a cute bow/knot on the ribbon and some of the grey gems from the Chelsea Gardens Dots & Gems.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  If you don’t already have a Close To My Heart consultant, feel free to stop by my site for more great products – gerri.closetomyheart.com! Before you leave – don’t forget to check out what Brittany has for you, and the rest of the hop!

You Are Wonderful

Today is the first day of Spring Break for my boys, so I’m going to start off with a REALLY easy card!  I got the idea for this card from one of my sister-consultants, Erica Haskin (We have a great Team FB Page where we share our cards/layouts to help inspire each other).  Her card used the blue stripe in the background, and she had a small ‘you’ stamped beneath ‘WONDERFUL’.  She also used grey enamel gems to embellish. It was such a cute card!

This card is based primarily on one of the Picture My Life cut apart 4 x 6 cards. These cards are printed in landscape (horizontal) on one side and portrait (vertical) on the other side.  As you can see in the picture of the paper packet below, you get two sheets, so you don’t have to choose!

Since the PML card measured 4 x 6, I trimmed it down to 4 x 5 1/4 so there would be a 1/4″ border all the way around.  I hacked the 3/4″ off of the right side, but I think it would have looked better to take a bit from the left and a bit from the right (I would have had more of the glacier circle on the right). I then used a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ piece of the black and white paper to fill that border.

I wanted my card to say more than just WONDERFUL (although, that’s not bad by itself), so I used the Jennifer’s Hand (B1484) stamp set to add U R.  This alpha stamp set with approximately 1/2″ letters is great for cards and layouts.

I finished this all off with a piece of white twine and a small piece of the colorful zip strip dovetailed to form a ‘kind of’ bow. I like how the bold colored triangles stand out from the circles.

There you go – a very simple card to start your month, your week, maybe even your Spring Break.  Whatever you’re doing this week – Enjoy!

Papercrafting Day Fun

Saturday was National Papercrafting Day!  So to spread some fun, I hosted a crafting day at my church.  We had 15 ladies join us for all kinds of crafts – wood decoupage, sewing, cardmaking, scrapbooking, jewelry making & photo/memorabelia sorting & organizing.

Some of us had fun working on the National Papercrafting Month Welcome Home Wreath kit.

The card buffet was also lots of fun – img_1643-2

Best of all was hanging out together – chatting & learning – meeting new or reconnecting with long-time friends or just seeing some ladies we hadn’t seen in a while.  img_1641

Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of everyone crafting away (we were just too busy having fun!)

Did you do anything for Papercrafting Day?!

Enjoy!

Adore You!

This Stamp of the Month is just in time to let your loved ones know how much you love them!  And it goes so nicely with the Sugar Rush featured paper packet.

This D-sized set comes with 7 sentiments and 4 images.  The mix of sentiments are sized well for cards or scrapbook layouts.

img_1330

This card is a variation on the extra card projects found in the Sugar Rush Workshops Your Way cutting guide (the original was a vertical card and had sprinkles & donuts.  It also didn’t use the washi tape.

The base is a 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 piece of the big polka dots, then a 3 1/4 X 4 1/4 piece of Whisper.

pmlI decided to use the pink cross-hatched 3×4 card from the Picture My Life sheet of pocket cards (2 each of these sheets are included in each paper packet).  These cards are quite versatile because one side gives you a portrait orientation and the other landscape.

Honestly it took me a few tries to get the color combo I wanted on this card (I used up both sides on the 2 cards in my paper pack).  I finally settled on Whisper ink for the heart/flowers and Cocoa for the sentiment.  I sometimes like to use Cocoa or Chocolate instead of Black because it gives the stamped image a softer feel.

I finished this one off with 2 lines of washi and a couple of Bitty Sparkles.  Another quick and easy card – ready for Valentine’s Day or anytime you want to spread some love.

Enjoy!

I love the idea of sending a hug (in paper form) across the miles.  This was a very simple card to make – some Whisper cardstock, then a patterned piece from the Sugar Rush Paper Packet and the cute little girl stamped in Whisper and colored in with water color pencils.  I used the small heart stamp from the Mother’s Day WYW Cardmaking Kit for the trail of hearts.  These were done with 1st & 2nd generation stamped images using Pomegranate.

img_1331

This guy was REALLY simple – a strip of patterned paper from Sugar Rush, a strip of Silver Shimmer Trim.  I stamped the image in Slate and then used regular colored pencils to color it him in.  The ‘Have A Happy Day’ is stamped in Lagoon.

Welcome Home Kit

Hello on a rainy Monday (I would really rather snow!!).  I wanted to show you this sweet succulent wreath that is our January Constant Campaign.  First I have to say I was a little intimidated by 3D flowers and plants – but this kit makes it soooo easy – anyone can make this fun project.

This is a Cut Above Kit – which means that all the pieces you need are pre-made/cut.  All you need to do is break apart the pieces on the perforated lines, roll up the roses and glue away.  If you want to add a little more you can ink the edges, add some bling or whatever makes your heart happy.

img_1396

Here are those adorable 3D roses that I thought were so intimidating.  A quilling tool makes them easier – but I didn’t have one, so I used a skewer and they turned out just fine.

How about those succulents – Cats & Kittens, Chicks & Hens (do you have another name for them?) they are all precut on colored cardstock, so just punch them out, layer & use the quilling tool to curl the edges to add a little dimension.

img_1399

The kit comes with 2 sheets of gold foil letters so you can personalize your wreath. Oh -and there are little gold dots on those sheets as well (I missed that part, so I used a hole punch to get the gold dots in the middle of my plants!)

So – now you might be wondering how to get this cute wreath.  You can purchase the Welcome Home Wreath Kit for $18.95 – or better yet get it for free by –
