Here’s another card design from the Scrapbook WYW guide. The design in the guide uses the Jack Card Making Stamp & Thin Cuts set (Z3333)
I decided to take this card in a slightly different direction and used the Nature’s Wish set.
The elegant script goes well with the simplicity of this card.
- 5 1/2 x 3 1/4 (I used Juniper cardstock, but the wood grain patterned paper works great, too)
- 5 1/2 x 2 (grey plaid)
- 2 1/2 square (ruby slash marks)
- 3 3/4 x 1 1/4 (whisper cardstock) – dovetailed on left side
I stamped the thank you with Black ink and embellished with black dots and white twine.
Just a reminder, the Jack creative collection will be retiring (along with the other collections in the Seasonal Expressions II idea book) on 31 August. If you are not already working with a CTMH consultant, I would love to help! You can purchase supplies directly from my website, or check out my other pages for upcoming classes or craft days.
Some of the items I used for this card:
One of the things that attracted me to Close To My Heart was the exclusive Cricut Cartridges. This year’s offerings do not disappoint! The new Annual Inspirations includes a travel/get-away themed cartridge called You Are Here and three digital only collections featuring the United States, Canada, and Australia/New Zealand.
I was so excited that I was able to get the You Are Here cartridge for 50% off shortly after it was available for consultants to preveiw! (Truth be told – I get all my Cricut cartridges at 50% off through Hostess Rewards!! – check out this link to find out how).
I usually get the physical cartridge because I like to have the book of images. If you prefer the digital version – you can download the book. Both options come with this set of stamps and the Enchantment Combo cardstock pack.
Here are a few things that I’ve made this month with this fun cartridge –
I love using the images for titles or accent pieces. The ‘Wild at Heart’ image uses the 2-toned colors from the Ruby cardstock. ‘Gone Exploring’ stamped image is from the exclusive stamp set with the banner cut from the cartridge.
Here’s a closer shot of the Wild at Heart – it definitely describes my boys!
Next is a card I made for a friend going on an Alaskan cruise.
I couldn’t decide between ‘Seas the Day’ or ‘Bon Voyage’ – but this worked out with the ship & mountains.
I love that this cartridge has some National Parks badges – include a couple of my faves – Teton & Yellowstone! I’ve got lots of pictures to scrapbook in these two beloved locations!
Don’t worry if you’re less of an outdoors person and more of a luxury traveler – there are images for you as well!
This cartridge is so much fun! I can’t wait to play with it some more! I’d love to see what you create with it!
Sorry, I’ve been MIA for a few days! My boys went to Scout Camp last week & I spent the week trying to cram as many projects into those 7 days as possible, so I let this slip just a bit. Today I’m back with the new Annual Inspirations Idea Book and some artwork I’ve made with the new products.
First a couple of highlights – in this Idea Book you’ll find …
A new Cut Above Layout Kit “The Story Begins” – to tell your baby’s stories – this kit comes in either a boy or girl option plus – save 30% when you purchase an album to go with it!
Double Sided Cardstock – what? – yep – one side is the actual color and the reverse is a lighter version. Check it out here – the Wild is cut from the lighter side and the rest from the front side of a sheet of Ruby cardstock. What an easy way to add some dimension to your projects!
Speaking of adding dimension – how about some new Cricut cartridges? We have a new cartridge available in either physical or digital. Both options come with an exclusive stamp set bundle and an Enchantment combo cardstock pack. The You Are Here cartridge is great for all your travel projects – from a girls trip to National Parks – there’s lots of fun in these images.
And of course we have new Fundamentals with awesome patterns, colors & complements (including new ribbon packs!).
With all these fun new products – I’d love to see what you create!
Good morning! As June is coming to a close, I am attending the CTMH Convention finding out about all the great new products coming your way soon. But we still have some fantastic featured papers from the Seasonal Expressions II Idea Book. July’s featured paper is Prickly Pear.
Small confession here … when I first saw this paper, I wasn’t shall we say thrilled. I grew up around big tress (hemlocks, maples & real oaks) – so cacti just weren’t doing anything for me. BUT – once I started playing with these papers – the beautiful colors and versatile patterns totally won me over.
Designs for these cards came from Make It From Your Heart Volumes I & II, Wishes Card Confidence Program, Prickly Pear WYW Scrapbooking guide and Pinterest (cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot)
Here are my layouts using the Scrapbooking WYW. I mostly followed the guide except for the ‘Big Shoes’ layout.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this quick look at my cards & layouts for July classes. You can find details for the classes on my Class Page or at Facebook.

Since my interests lie more in scrapbooking than cardmaking, I don’t always look to the Cardmaking Workshops Your Way. However, after playing with a few of them, I’ve come to enjoy working with them.
The No Worries Cardmaking WYW includes one sheet of patterned paper from the Paper Packet, one sheet each of Sea Glass and Smoothie cardstock, No Worries sequins, Aqua Shimmer Trim, card bases with envelopes, and an exclusive B-sized stamp set.
CTMH provides a downloadable guide to make six each of two card patterns. You can also reverse the patterned papers for additional options.
These two designs were my starting point for these two cards. I wanted to use some of the papers included in the full paper packet, so I swapped out some of the layers. (Please excuse my crooked stamping on the anniversary card – I may or may not have been enjoying some wine at that point!)
I love how easy it is to adapt these card kits to your personal needs. For example, you can change out the stamps on either design to get the combination of anniversary and thank you cards that work best for you. The guides are always a great starting point to get your creativity moving!
This is also the ‘thanks’ stamp that I used in the last post No Worries – Thanks.

I once heard a speaker talking about balancing your life – family, work, self, volunteer time – it all takes time and energy. I wish I could remember her name – because rather than talking about trying to balance everything like a scale – she talked about a symphony. When a symphony plays, a multitude of instruments come together to make beautiful music. However, there are times when certain instruments shine – the brass might have a solo, so the other instruments linger in the background. Next it’s time for the woodwinds – then percussion – on and on. She spoke about how this was a good way to balance your life – sometimes family needs will take a lot of time and your other things will fall back slightly – they don’t go away, they just give way. Next you might need to devote more time to your business – then a volunteer activity.
This is exactly what happened to me. I was helping to organize a fundraiser at my church and it took more of my time and energy than I was expecting. It was a fun and successful event, but something else had to give – I decided to let my blog slide a bit until I could get caught up in more pressing areas and bring my symphony of life back together. So – here are a couple of cards featuring the Little Dreamer Creative Collection.
As usual, I try to keep my cards quick and easy. This first card uses three strips (2 of the lagoon stripe and a floral) with a 3/4″ strip of thistle cardstock running across the bottom. I added some Whisper thick twine for added visual dimension. Then I topped this with squares of the blossom floral, thistle rainbows and the white daisy piece for stamping. The stamped images are done in Thistle and Glacier. I felt the difference between the White Daisy card and the paper pieces was a bit too stark, so I backed everything with a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of the cloud paper.
This next card simply uses a piece of the unicorn paper with a 5 1/2 piece of the zip strip along with some Whisper thick twine. The stamping on this is done with Lagoon and Pixie and the stamped piece is backed with the heart paper.
I hope your life’s symphony is well balanced and that you are able to pursue all the worthwhile causes you enjoy in life.

I talk a lot about Workshops Your Way – especially the scrapbook kits. I really like these kits because they have everything you need to get layouts done quickly.
The part I often overlook in the Scrapbook Workshops Your Way are the additional cards included in the cutting diagram.
If you look in this picture – you can identify the card cuts in 2 ways. First – the layouts are all numbered 1-3, so any cut numbered above 3 is for a card. Second, the card cuts are a darker shade. So, if you don’t want to make the cards – just skip those cuts.
These three cards in the picture above, feature the card making stamp set that coordinates with the paper packet. Sometimes, though I don’t want to buy something else. In these instances, I try to find a stamp set in my stash that will work.
You can see how with just a few tweaks, I was able to use the same card patterns, but adapt them for the birthday cards that I wanted. I used the April SOTM Flock Together (S1704) and Hi Friend (A1198) for the first card, and Circus Birthday (B1533) for the last two. The ‘Happy Birthday’ on the middle card is from the Hooked On You (B1535) set (I’ve found this set very versatile!).
Since these were for my card class, I only made one of each, but when you follow the WYW cutting guide, you will have the pieces for multiples which helps you make better use of your time.
There you go – the Scrapbook Workshops Your Way are a great value for both your money and your time. Create the optional card projects and you’ve got an even better deal.
