Life’s Adventure

I’ve come to enjoy the Scrapbooking WYW extra card projects – they are great for using up your papers after your layouts are full.  I often use the pattern and then adapt the card based on what stamps I have or what I need a card for.

Truth be told, I only used this stamp because I wanted to play with the new You Are Here Cricut Collection! I must say, it is my favorite so far!

The WYW Project used 4 1/4″ pieces of wood grain zip strip for the top and bottom pieces. Because I make card kits for my classes, I decided to use cardstock and emboss it with the woodgrain. I ran a 1 x 4 1/4″ strip of cardstock through my Cuttlebug and then cut it in half to get the 1/2 x 4 1/4″ pieces.

Next, I cut a 1 1/4 x 4 1/4″ piece and a 2 x 4 1/4″ piece from the red plaid paper (flip the 2″ strip over to get the red hash lines)

For the stamping I used the background from the Mountain image (#M2762A3A). The stamped showed to cut this at 2.5″ high, but as you can see from my picture, I had a hard time lining up the image at that size. So, I recut the White Daisy at 2.6″. Then I cut Peacock at 2.75″ for the mat and stamped in Pewter.

I embellished with Whisper Thick Twine and some Black and White Dots.
Enjoy!

Jack Blog Hop

Welcome to our Jack Blog Hop! We will be showcasing items from our Jack creative collection with various projects created by talented Close to my Heart consultants. If you are visiting from Claudia’s blog then you are on the right track, if not please start at the beginning with our hostess Carol. When you’re through here, be sure to check out Debi’s blog.

CIMG0017When I saw these papers, I was so excited to get ‘BOY’ stuff! I know some people are against gender identification in cards/scrapbooks/life – but my reality is I have two boys and there is a lot of flowery, frilly papers & embellishments out there! I can often find enough neutrality to make it work, but it was nice to just match pictures and colors and not worry about those flowers or rainbows and how they went (or didn’t) with our rough and tumble life.

See!? When your brother covers you with muddy hand prints, pink flowers just don’t fit the mood!

Just in time to play with these fun outdoor papers, CTMH released the You Are Here Cricut Collection – FULL of more outdoor fun & a perfect complement for my layouts this month. This layout was one that consultants received at the Spring idea book launch event (just one of many great perks of being a consultant!!).

The original layout used a title from the Jack Complements, but I thought these pictures were perfect for the ‘Wild At Heart’ title from the You Are Here collection. I cut this from the new two-toned Ruby cardstock – I love the added dimension this adds without having to buy an additional product!

The ‘Gone Exploring’ stamp is from the one of the three stamp sets that come with the collection along with the Combo pack of Enchantment cardstock.

My next layout shows more camping fun (if you haven’t seen a lot of my blog – my family does a lot of camping & backpacking – we LOVE being outdoors!). This layout is a variation of the Make It From Your Heart, Volume 2, Pattern 8.

The Camping Life stamp set added some fun extras on this page – the S’mores, mountains, compass – they all went so perfectly with these pictures!

I wanted to combine these crossed arrows and the ‘I woke up this cute’ badge, but the arrows weren’t long enough, so I cut the arrows in the middle, then used 3D foam tape on the banner. This allowed me to slide the pieces of the arrows underneath hiding the fact that it’s cut in half.

Next I have a more current layout (this is actually the most recent thing I have ever scrapbooked – I’m mostly working back in 2004 right now, with the exception of a few things like the above layouts from 2010!)

This was just a basic layout that I put together without a pattern. I love how well the subdued background of this tree ring paper went with these pictures. Don’t be fooled though, I don’t just have one Wild Child – they are both wild – I’ll duplicate this layout with pictures showcasing my other son & his cliff jumping antics.

I used the Jack Workshops Your Way Scrapbooking Kit for these layouts and still have paper left over for cards or more layouts. I love that these Workshops Your Way kits are such a great value. With the Jack kit, you get the paper packet, extra cardstock (1 Juniper, 2 Whisper, 1 White Daisy), Complements, Black & White Dots, and Whisper Thick Twine. Because I didn’t follow the WYW guide for my layouts, I added extra White Daisy cardstock for bases on the first 2 layouts.

That’s all I have for you this morning – but next check out Debi’s and see what fun she has for us!

Enjoy hopping!
