We’re coming up on another transition. For the past few months we’ve been playing with creative collections from the Seasonal Expressions 2 idea book. Those fun collections will be leaving us at the end of this month to make room for the new Holiday Expressions!
Did you love Little Dreamer?
How about Prickly Pear?
Or my favorite Jack!
If you haven’t had your fill of all this fun jump over to my CTMH website (gerri.closetomyheart.com) to order your happy mail!
I was excited to scrapbook with the Little Dreamer Workshop Your Way kit. These papers have fun colors that are great for happy events. I’ve been wanting to scrap my son’s 2nd Easter and birthday and these papers were perfect for both! I was able to use the Workshop Guide with minimal changes to meet my needs for picture sizes & quantities. Check out the comparison below!
I like the simplicity of this layout. The lagoon stripes on the base papers added nice dimension. Rather than using the Complements for a title, I decided to cut ‘make a wish’ from the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge.
This was layout was great for continuing the birthday theme. I used CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge (retired) for the ‘Birthday Boy’ title. The party hats are from the Artistry and Flower Market Cartridges! I also used different PML cards for journaling and left off the unicorns (cute as they are, they just don’t work with Bob the Builder!)
I love that our B&T Duo papers are just that – dual sided! This layout was easy to adjust simply by flipping the unicorns over to get the dots. I probably wouldn’t so much of the dots on back to back layouts – but these will be a few months apart in the final book – so I’m happy with it. The Cricut cuts for this layout include Easter Eggs from Art Philosophy (retired), grass strip from Artbooking and Happy Easter title from Flower Market
Tips for adapting to your layouts:
- Change up the PML cards to meet your needs and cover up things that don’t fit – I covered up unicorns and flowers (2nd layout) and a heart (3rd layout).
- Use Cricut cuts for titles and embellishing.
- You can easily add more pictures or different sizes to a sample layout.
- Wait until you’ve decided on pictures to cut the photo mats from the Thistle Cardstock and Heart B&T Duo paper.
- A little planning goes a long way! I like to decide on what pictures I want to use before I start cutting my papers. This way I can more easily decide what adjustments I want to make.
I’d love to hear any ideas you might have for adjusting kit layouts to meet your needs!
I tend to shy away from stamps that I need to color in because that takes extra time. But recently I’ve been adding these to my collection and just using basic techniques to color. Some of the techniques I’ve used to keep my coloring quick and easy include:
Watercolor Pencils – Ink Stamp Pads – Watercolors – Colored Pencils – Water Brushes
This stamp set looks great even without coloring!
For this picture, I used Momento Black Ink and then used water colors and a water brush to color in just some of the flowers & leaves. To keep everything balanced, I focused on one color or type of flower across all the letters.

Welcome to our Little Dreamer Blog Hop! We will be showcasing items from our new Seasonal Expressions II catalog with various projects created by talented Close To My Heart consultants. If you are visiting from Haley’s blog then you are on the right track, if not please start at the beginning with our hostess Carol. Next check out Elly’s blog for more fun.
I really love the bright colors of the Little Dreamer paper packet, but I wanted to take it beyond the cute unicorns and rainbows. I’ve had the Happy for You stamp set for some time and really like the versatility of it. This stamp set has sentiments for retirements, adoption, new job, new house – along with the normal birthday & wedding.
I really thought the line balloon images of the stamp set would work great with the patterned papers of Little Dreamer. And what could be better than a cloud filled sky background for those balloons!
I also used the Little Dreamer Cardmaking Thin Cuts to cut the banners below the balloons. I love when I can ‘multi-purpose’ something like this Thin Cut die with other stamps!
Last I added some of the Little Dreamer Glitter Gems to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping in! Be sure to check out Elly’s blog next!
I once heard a speaker talking about balancing your life – family, work, self, volunteer time – it all takes time and energy. I wish I could remember her name – because rather than talking about trying to balance everything like a scale – she talked about a symphony. When a symphony plays, a multitude of instruments come together to make beautiful music. However, there are times when certain instruments shine – the brass might have a solo, so the other instruments linger in the background. Next it’s time for the woodwinds – then percussion – on and on. She spoke about how this was a good way to balance your life – sometimes family needs will take a lot of time and your other things will fall back slightly – they don’t go away, they just give way. Next you might need to devote more time to your business – then a volunteer activity.
This is exactly what happened to me. I was helping to organize a fundraiser at my church and it took more of my time and energy than I was expecting. It was a fun and successful event, but something else had to give – I decided to let my blog slide a bit until I could get caught up in more pressing areas and bring my symphony of life back together. So – here are a couple of cards featuring the Little Dreamer Creative Collection.
As usual, I try to keep my cards quick and easy. This first card uses three strips (2 of the lagoon stripe and a floral) with a 3/4″ strip of thistle cardstock running across the bottom. I added some Whisper thick twine for added visual dimension. Then I topped this with squares of the blossom floral, thistle rainbows and the white daisy piece for stamping. The stamped images are done in Thistle and Glacier. I felt the difference between the White Daisy card and the paper pieces was a bit too stark, so I backed everything with a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of the cloud paper.
This next card simply uses a piece of the unicorn paper with a 5 1/2 piece of the zip strip along with some Whisper thick twine. The stamping on this is done with Lagoon and Pixie and the stamped piece is backed with the heart paper.
I hope your life’s symphony is well balanced and that you are able to pursue all the worthwhile causes you enjoy in life.
