Are you ready for SUMMER? I’m not quite there – but, I’m having fun playing with these gorgeous, fun & fruity papers from Close to My Heart. My latest project was to add the B&T Dous patterned Taste of Summer papers to wooden letters. I get my letters from Wood Creations (www.woodcreationscrafts.com) here in Utah. They always have cute wood cut decor that’s ready for crafting.
This is a very easy and fairly quick craft to add some cute summer fruitiness to your home or to give as a gift. All you need to do is –
Prepare the Wood – wipe off excess saw dust and sand any rough edges if you want (I hate sanding, so I don’t do this). Then, paint the letters in colors to coordinate with the papers you are using. This is what takes the longest because you have to wait for the paint to dry (and I’m NOT patient). I apply 2-3 coats to get good coverage
Cut the Paper Letters – it doesn’t get much easier than this – just trace around the letters, then cut. I like a little of the paint to show around the paper, so I cut inside my tracing line a good bit. Then I hold the paper in place and trim back areas where I want more paint to show through.
Break out the Modge Podge – apply a generous coat of modge podge to the surface where you’ll be putting the paper – I like to use a sponge brush, or a sponge roller if I’m doing a large area. Carefully align the paper with the wood and smooth down. I use a store customer card to help smooth the paper and keep out air bubbles. Pampered Chef scrappers that come with stoneware work good as well. You’ll want to pay particular attention to the curves for air bubbles. Just smooth them out.
Next apply another light coat of Modge Podge on top of the letter and smooth it again. Once you have the paper smooth & air bubbles removed, set it aside to dry.
Add embellishments – ribbon, twine, sequins – whatever sparks your fancy.
If your’e interested in these bright, bold papers – you can find them during May 2015 through your local Close to My Heart consultant or gerri.ctmh.com
Have fun creating something! I would love to see your ideas.
I’m really excited to be a part of the Close to My Heart family. Originally, I was just going to buy product at a discount, but the more I thought about it – the more I thought maybe, just maybe, I can help other women (or men) be able to create – like I’ve said – I don’t consider myself creative, but I do love to create things. Today’s creations are using the exclusive National Scrapbooking Month paper pack and stamp set from Close to My Heart. We’re in the middle of spring here in Utah, but with these bright and bold papers and fruit inspired stamps, you can be dreaming of summertime! These two products are only available during May – so get yours before they’re gone!
The exclusive paper pack comes with 2 each of 6 different B&T Duo’s papers (double sided) for only $8.95. I used 1 packet of paper to make all the creations on this page, and still have a few full 12 X 12” sheets left over. The stamp set is a D-sized set with 15 yummy, fruity stamps for only $17.95. This stamp set can be used with the Cricut Artiste cartridge for adding dimension. Purchase either of these products from my website – gerri.ctmh.com – and I’ll send you directions for the scrapbook and card layouts that follow.
Both layouts come from CTMH Corporate Office. The “Life is Grand” layout uses just 1 each of 2 different patterned papers, white cardstock, white shimmer trim and white sequins. Documenting Moments (D1647) is the My Acrylix stamp set used. This layout leaves room for 2 X 2” pictures & journaling space.
Another Corporate Office layout – “You Make Me Happy” uses 1 sheet each of 2 other B&T Duos. I like how the zip strips from the sheets peek out at the bottom (the little purple strip). This layout has room for two 6 X 4” and three 3 X 4” pictures. Again, we used the Documenting Moments My Acrylix set
Next we have some really cute cards – four of them are made mostly with the scraps from the above layouts. The cards use both the Documenting Moments and the Taste of Summer My Acrylix sets. These cards also use silver shimmer trim, some Bitty Sparkles, squares of pear cardstock, as well as canary, smoothie, and sunset exclusive ink pads. The 4 cards on the outside are from CTMH and the two in the middle are my ideas.
Thanks for looking. I hope you were inspired to create something. If you would like the directions for these layouts and cards, order the Taste of Summer paper pack (CC1038) or the Taste of Summer My Acrylix set (CC1039) available during May 2015 and I will send them to you. To order any of these products, just go to http://gerri.ctmh.com/.
Have fun creating!
